PLUMAS COUNTY, California — November 5, 2026. The county’s official election-night report records 6,576 voters casting ballots out of 12,891 registered voters, a preliminary 51.01% turnout rate. All 29 county precincts were reported in a file generated on November 3 at 8:17:37 p.m. The file is labeled Unofficial Final, not certified. This distinction matters because additional valid ballots may be accepted and checked as the canvass continues.

Governor: Steve Hilton ahead in Plumas County

In the local governor tally, Steve Hilton received 3,757 votes and Xavier Becerra 2,768. Hilton’s 989-vote county margin is not the statewide result. The Associated Press projected Becerra as the statewide winner based on voting from all California counties. Plumas residents’ county subtotal should never be presented as the result for California.

House and Assembly races: county portions only

The Plumas Sun’s November 5 report lists James Gallagher at 3,718 and Mike McGuire at 2,743 in Plumas County’s portion of Congressional District 1. In State Assembly District 1, Heather Hadwick received 3,887 and Dianna Margaret James 2,538 in Plumas. Both legislative districts include voters beyond a single county, so these county-only totals cannot establish an entire district’s ranking.

Additional statewide offices: county voting patterns

In Plumas County, Gloria Romero had 3,713 votes against Fiona Ma’s 2,758 for lieutenant governor. The secretary of state race had Donald P. Wagner with 3,686 versus incumbent Shirley Weber’s 2,796. For state superintendent of public instruction, Sonja Shaw had 3,126 and Richard Barrera 2,286. Those figures describe the county’s voters, not an overall statewide outcome or certification.

What does “all 29 precincts reported” mean?

A reported precinct count means the election office received an initial result from those precincts. It does not necessarily mean every timely mail, provisional or conditional-registration ballot has completed legal validation. A news organization should not treat the reported 51.01% turnout as a permanent final figure. County officials, not California58, certify the official election.

Voters in Quincy, Portola, Chester and Greenville can use the official county report to understand countywide preferences without assuming it represents their specific town.
