RIVERSIDE COUNTY, California — November 5, 2026. Election Night has ended, but Riverside County’s November 3 general-election count is not finished. The county Registrar of Voters estimates that approximately 466,000 ballots remain to be processed after its November 4 reporting. That number includes an estimated 455,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 11,000 conditional voter-registration ballots. The county says additional legally eligible mailed ballots may still be received, so the estimates are not a final audit of all outstanding votes.
When voters should expect the next results
The Riverside County Registrar’s official election page schedules the next update by 6 p.m. Pacific on Thursday, November 5. This report uses the known November 4 outstanding-ballot estimate rather than claiming a new batch has appeared. If the deadline passes without a new dashboard timestamp, readers should use the Registrar’s actual posted figures instead of treating the scheduled time as proof of publication.
Why the county can still have so many ballots
Mail ballots arriving at vote centers and drop boxes on Election Day need processing and verification. Conditional registration ballots must also be reviewed before inclusion. The county says voters with correctable ballot problems may submit cure documents through November 25, subject to its published guidance. California also accepts qualifying mail ballots postmarked no later than November 3 and received by November 10. These verification requirements explain why the total counted after election night can rise even after precincts have reported.
Races to watch in Southwest Riverside County
California58’s local reporting already covers the Temecula Council District 5 contest, the Murrieta Valley Unified Measure M, the Lake Elsinore Measure T and Menifee City Council districts. Close candidate margins or measures near a required approval threshold deserve fresh reporting when the county adds another legitimate vote batch.
Countywide backlog is not the outstanding count in one city
The 466,000 estimate covers Riverside County as a whole. It does not mean that 466,000 more voters chose a Temecula council candidate, and it does not indicate how many additional Measure M ballots are still being examined. Municipal and school-district constituencies have different boundaries. Reporters should only describe a race as changing if its own candidate or Yes/No totals have moved between source-stamped releases.
Where official counting stands
The county’s election reporting also separates its portions of U.S. House and state legislative districts from contests shared with neighboring counties. A Riverside-only count is not a districtwide total. For the complete legal results and the latest source timestamp, consult the county Registrar’s official results and canvass page. California counties must complete final results by December 3; statewide certification is set for December 11.
