STOCKTON / SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY — October 26, 2026. The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters has published its reporting timetable for the November 3 general election. The first results are expected shortly after polls close at 8 p.m., with subsequent updates approximately every two hours on election night.
What is included in the first count?
According to Registrar Olivia Hale’s October 23 announcement, the initial report will include vote-by-mail ballots received through October 31 and early in-person ballots already processed. Ballots cast at polling places will be incorporated as precinct reports arrive. The opening count will therefore be preliminary and should not be called a final election outcome.
When later ballots are counted
On Thursday, November 5, by 5 p.m., the Registrar plans its first report of remaining unprocessed ballots. Another update is due Friday, November 6, by 7 p.m., followed by Monday, Wednesday and Friday updates no later than 7 p.m. during the canvass. These may include ballots received after Election Day, provisional ballots and signatures that need verification.
The county anticipates certifying results after 5 p.m. on November 25, the earliest statutory date cited in the release. These are reporting targets, not a promise that a close race can be called when the first batch is published.
