SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — People who may need additional assistance during a wildfire, power outage, evacuation or other emergency can consider a voluntary registry maintained through Siskiyou County Public Health.

Who the registry is designed to help

The county’s Emergency Preparedness page describes its Access and Functional Needs registry as a planning tool for responders, emergency managers and service providers. It is intended to help identify and prioritize resources for residents who might encounter barriers during an emergency. Those needs may involve mobility, communication, transportation or other support requirements.

County officials say registration is voluntary and information is kept confidential for emergency use. The official page includes an online enrollment option and a printable form for mailing. Residents should use only the links provided by the county rather than sharing sensitive information with unverified third parties.

A registry is not an evacuation guarantee

Enrolling does not mean emergency personnel can promise a particular response time, transportation pickup or individualized assistance under every disaster condition. Families and caregivers should still discuss backup plans, transportation, medications, power-dependent equipment and accessible evacuation routes.

The county also promotes ReadySiskiyou for phone and electronic alerts and Genasys Protect for evacuation zones. Keeping a plan and receiving alerts are complementary steps to registration.
