NEW COUNTING-CONTEXT UPDATE — NOVEMBER 5. Fresno County’s own official election page estimates that 112,000 ballots remained to be processed as of 2 a.m. November 4, including 108,000 mail ballots dropped off on Election Day and 4,000 provisional/conditional ballots. It also identifies roughly 3,000 ballots requiring possible signature correction and an unknown number of eligible mailed ballots arriving through November 10. A new release is scheduled before 5 p.m. November 5. That means early Measure S percentages below must not be treated as final; nor can anyone infer the uncounted voters’ preferences. Read our full 112,000-ballot explanation. The original results below are retained at their November 4 report timestamps.

Earlier November 4 election return

FRESNO COUNTY — November 4, 2026. Preliminary county election results show two consequential decisions underway: a proposed transportation sales tax known as Measure S had more no than yes votes, while Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco led Fresno City Councilmember Mike Karbassi in the race for the county Board of Supervisors District 1 seat. These contests are separate from Fresno city council elections.

Measure S: tax proposal behind

The San Joaquin Valley Sun’s November 4 report showed 46.62% yes and 53.38% no on the transportation proposal, with more than 135,000 votes cast on the measure at that snapshot. An earlier KMJ 9:37 p.m. report listed 46.47% yes and 53.53% no. The newer figures supersede the older snapshot for describing the latest reported split; neither is certified.

Supervisor District 1

Pacheco held a lead of roughly 15 percentage points and about 3,200 votes over Karbassi in the later San Joaquin Valley Sun report. KMJ’s earlier figures had Pacheco at 55.37% and Karbassi at 44.63%. Readers should distinguish the two reporting times, rather than mistakenly combining the later margin with the earlier percentage as one set of results.

Fresno city races

In city council District 1, Naindeep Singh moved narrowly ahead of Rob Fuentes by 16 votes in later reporting after Fuentes led the first batch. In Districts 3 and 7, Joaquin Arambula and Ariana Martinez Lott held reported leads respectively. Separate city district contests cannot be added to supervisor or county-measure vote totals.

What comes after Election Night?

County officials will continue processing valid ballots and conducting the official canvass. A close contest may change significantly in future releases.
