LOS ANGELES COUNTY — November 4, 2026, evening. Los Angeles County’s Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk says an additional 132,507 ballots have been processed since election night, bringing the countywide total to 2,279,750 ballots and reported turnout to 38.58%. The next election results update is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, at 9 a.m. Pacific, according to the election office’s official results page.
Why the count is not final
Election night reporting captures only part of the vote. Officials can still process eligible ballots received in the statutory window, provisional votes, conditional-registration ballots, and ballots needing signature or other verification. A leading candidate in a live tracker is not necessarily a certified winner. The county’s update schedule anticipates additional releases throughout the week.
Close races being watched
In the City of Los Angeles, Nithya Raman held a 405,193-to-379,069 lead over incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the latest reported snapshot, while the mayoral race remained uncalled. See our updated city mayoral report.
In City Council District 3, Timothy Gaspar led Barri Girvan 26,322 to 26,028, a margin of just 294 votes on the NBC Los Angeles tracker. Other close local contests include council races in cities across the county, notably the Rancho Palos Verdes third-seat contest.
Countywide and local decisions
Separate votes determined the direction of the county sheriff election, municipal offices, school board contests and local ballot measures. Robert Luna was projected to defeat Alex Villanueva in the sheriff race, according to NBC; California58 has the countywide result breakdown. The county’s Measures A and E also drew early Yes majorities, reported separately in our election coverage.
Residents should use the LA County official results portal as the primary reference and check the timestamp on live media dashboards before comparing figures. This report is a November 4 evening snapshot and should not be read as certification.
