SACRAMENTO COUNTY, California — November 5, 2026. Residents will not receive the county’s first post-election interim tally until Friday, November 6, at approximately 4:15 p.m., according to the registrar’s official schedule. The semi-final November 4 report, timestamped 1:25:40 a.m., shows 271,406 ballots cast out of 920,998 registered voters, or 29.47% turnout in that reporting snapshot. That is not a final election turnout rate.

Governor votes: Becerra ahead in this county report

The county’s semi-final governor tabulation lists Xavier Becerra with 170,865 votes (63.69%) and Steve Hilton with 97,424 (36.31%), across 268,289 valid candidate votes. The difference between 271,406 ballots cast and the number of valid governor selections reflects 3,074 undervotes and 43 overvotes in the county report. These are Sacramento County figures, not statewide totals.

Other statewide officers on Sacramento ballots

In the insurance commissioner race, Jane Kim had 120,385 votes (54.50%) and Ben Allen 100,493 (45.50%) in the semi-final report. In the attorney general contest, Rob Bonta had 168,107 and Michael E. Gates 97,550. Both contests use the county’s preliminary tally rather than state certification. The total number of valid selections varies by contest, so turnout percentages must not be copied indiscriminately from the governor race.

Congressional and district races require smaller geographic units

In Sacramento County’s portion of U.S. House District 7, Doris Matsui was reported with 45,654 votes and Mai Vang with 39,585 in the semi-final return. This is the county report’s defined district portion and must not be mistakenly extended to jurisdictions outside it. Countywide precinct and voter totals are also not the same thing as trustee-area ballots or school-district votes.

Natomas and college governance

For example, the Natomas Unified Area 4 school-board race shows a four-candidate field in a separate local electorate. Sacramento and nearby Yolo County also have residents affected by the Los Rios community college Measure H, which requires county-partitioned reporting before discussing a districtwide result. These local results should not be lumped together with all of Sacramento County’s gubernatorial turnout.

The remaining publication schedule

According to Sacramento County’s official November 3 schedule notice, interim updates are planned for November 6, 10, 13, 16, 20 and 24, with another on November 25 and a scheduled release on December 1. The routine updates are generally at 4:15 p.m.; the November 25 listing is 6:15 p.m. County certification is scheduled on or before December 1, ahead of the statewide December 11 certification deadline. Scheduling is an expectation and does not establish that a future data batch is already available.

Why the results will change after election night

The first batches can include early returned mail ballots and votes cast in vote centers, while later canvass rounds process eligible additional ballots and perform verification. Readers should record the date and timestamp of every county update before comparing leads. California58 will treat the semi-final November 4 figures in this article as historical after a new county report becomes available.
