JACKSON, Calif. — Amador County property owners preparing for the 2026–27 tax year should distinguish between the date the first installment becomes payable and the later date when it becomes delinquent.
Two dates that matter
According to the Amador County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s official tax calendar, the first installment of secured property taxes is due November 1. The installment becomes delinquent if it is not paid by December 10, subject to the county’s payment and deadline rules. The county states that a missed first-installment delinquency date normally results in a 10% penalty.
The second installment becomes due February 1. Its normal delinquency date is April 10, with the county explaining that the deadline moves to the next business day when it falls on a weekend or holiday. Property owners should use the current secured-taxes page to check the applicable payment instructions.
Missing a bill does not stop penalties
The county says failure to receive a tax bill does not remove the owner’s responsibility to pay. Owners who have not received a bill should contact the Tax Collector rather than assuming that no tax is due. Those who pay through a mortgage escrow or impound account should also confirm that the lender will pay the installment.
Questions about tax payments can be directed to the Amador County Tax Collector at 209-223-6364. Questions about the assessed value of property should go to the Assessor at 209-223-6351.
